Yamaha PG-1 115cc
Easy to ride. Built for Laos roads.
The Yamaha PG-1 is the smallest bike in our Laos fleet — and the only semi-automatic model we offer. Don’t let its size fool you: this lightweight, tough little bike handles Laos’ challenging roads far better than a scooter. With its larger tires, higher ground clearance, and extra power compared to a Honda Wave, it’s the ideal choice for new riders or anyone looking for a simple, reliable way to explore beyond the cities.

Why Choose the Yamaha PG-1
Automatic scooters might seem convenient – but they’re not built for Laos. With steep mountains, loose gravel, and muddy tracks, an automatic’s lack of engine braking and low clearance can quickly become a problem. The PG-1 is the perfect middle ground: no clutch to worry about, easy to learn, and tough enough for Laos’ rugged conditions.
Even for complete beginners, it’s incredibly easy to ride. Our team can give you a quick lesson before you set off, and within minutes you’ll feel confident and in control.
Despite being our smallest model, it still reaches 80 km/h, plenty fast for Laos’ city streets and highways. And with rental prices starting at $15 per day or $300 per month, it’s one of the most affordable and practical options available.

Its Limitations
The PG-1 is best suited for solo riders. It doesn’t have the power to carry two people comfortably, and for safety reasons we only recommend it for one. If you need a bike for two, check out our manual models such as the Honda XR190L or Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
The 5.1 L fuel tank is smaller than some of our larger bikes, but the PG-1’s excellent fuel efficiency still gives a solid 200 km+ range. Just keep in mind that petrol stations can be sparse in rural areas, so it’s worth topping up when you can.
While capable on rough roads, the lack of a clutch means it’s not ideal for deep mud or steep off-road climbs. However, for most riders, the PG-1 offers more than enough performance and control for the majority of Laos’ roads.

Who is the Yamaha PG-1 Recommended for?
The Yamaha PG-1 is perfect for travellers who are not comfortable with manual bikes but still want a capable, durable option for exploring Laos. It’s the best semi-automatic available for touring the country – a far better choice than a full automatic.
If you’re confident on manual bikes or planning to tackle tougher routes and remote terrain, we recommend upgrading to a dual-sport such as the Honda CRF150L or Kawasaki KLX230S.
For paved roads, small towns, and lighter adventures, the PG-1 is a fantastic, affordable, and dependable choice.
