Renting a Haojue / Suzuki in Laos
GN125, NK150 & V-Strom Guide
At Style Motorbikes, three of the most popular bikes in our Laos rental fleet carry the Haojue / Suzuki badge — the GN125, the NK150, and the V-Strom 250. If you’re planning a motorbike trip in Laos and considering one of these, this guide covers everything you need to know: what each bike is, who it suits, how it handles Laos roads, and what it costs to rent.
What Is a Haojue / Suzuki?
Haojue / Suzuki is a joint venture between Suzuki — one of the world’s most trusted motorcycle manufacturers — and Haojue, the largest motorcycle producer in China. The partnership combines Suzuki’s engineering standards and mechanical reliability with Haojue’s large-scale manufacturing, producing bikes that deliver Suzuki-level quality at a more accessible price point.
For riders in Laos, there’s a practical advantage beyond price: Haojue / Suzuki bikes are officially sold and serviced in Laos. Unlike some imported models, spare parts are available locally — meaning faster repairs and better reliability if something needs attention during a long rental. This makes them a strong choice for anyone riding into remote areas or planning a multi-week trip.

Haojue / Suzuki GN125 — Best Budget Manual Bike in Laos
The GN125 is the most affordable manual motorcycle in our Laos fleet. It’s a lightweight, commuter-style bike that’s easy to control and straightforward to ride — an ideal choice for anyone who has ridden a manual bike before but doesn’t need anything powerful or heavy.
Don’t mistake “budget” for unreliable. The GN125 is a proven platform with a strong track record across Southeast Asia. It handles the main roads between Laos cities comfortably, and its manageable power output makes it a confidence-building option for riders who want a proper manual experience without feeling overwhelmed.
Best for
Riders on a budget, solo travellers on well-paved routes, those comfortable with a manual bike who want a simple, no-fuss option.
Not ideal for
Rough dirt tracks, carrying a pillion passenger, heavily loaded touring, or challenging off-road terrain.

Haojue / Suzuki NK150 — The Most Popular Dirt Bike Rental in Laos
The NK150 is one of the most rented bikes in our entire Laos fleet — and for good reason. It hits a sweet spot that very few bikes manage: capable enough to handle Laos’s challenging roads, but comfortable and approachable enough that riders without extensive off-road experience can get on it and feel in control quickly.
Compared to the Honda CRF150L and Kawasaki KLX230S, the NK150 has a noticeably more comfortable seat — something that matters enormously on long riding days. Laos roads can be unrelenting, and being comfortable on the bike makes a significant difference to how much you enjoy the trip.
Performance-wise, the NK150’s 150cc single-cylinder engine gives it solid torque for mountain climbs, good ground clearance for gravel and dirt tracks, and capable suspension for the broken tarmac and rough surfaces common outside the main highways. It’s very similar in capability to the Honda XR150L, but with the added advantage of local parts availability across Laos.
Do you need experience?
| Some manual bike experience helps, but the NK150 is forgiving enough that we can get most riders confident on it with a short lesson before they head out. The honest truth about riding in Laos is that the roads are the challenge — steep mountain passes, unexpected potholes, river crossings on some routes — rather than the bike itself. The NK150 handles all of it well; you just need to be comfortable with the basics of clutch and gear control. |
Best for
Solo riders doing loops like the Pakse Loop or Thakhek Loop, anyone riding the north-south route, riders who want a capable off-road bike without the harder seat of a CRF or KLX.
Available at
All three Style Motorbikes shops — Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and Pakse — making it an excellent option for one-way rentals across the country.

Suzuki V-Strom 250 — Most Affordable Adventure Bike in Laos
The V-Strom 250 sits at the adventure touring end of our fleet — the most affordable ADV option we offer, sitting below the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, Himalayan 450, and Honda CB500X in both engine size and daily rate.
Where the GN125 and NK150 are primarily single-rider bikes, the V-Strom 250 is a genuine two-up option. Its comfortable ergonomics, capable suspension, and included side panniers make it well suited for couples or for solo riders who want to carry more gear without a separate rack setup. The upright ADV riding position is also easier on the body over long days than a more aggressive style bike.
At 250cc, it has enough power to handle Laos’s mountain roads without feeling strained, while remaining lighter and easier to manage than the larger 400–500cc adventure bikes in our fleet. For riders who want the adventure bike experience — comfort, luggage capacity, and confident handling — without paying for more engine than they need, the V-Strom 250 is the right choice.
Best for
Two-up riding, riders wanting adventure bike ergonomics and luggage capacity, those stepping up from 150cc bikes, multi-week trips with significant kit.
Recommended experience
Comfortable with manual bikes. The V-Strom is not difficult to ride, but its size and weight mean it rewards riders who have some prior experience on larger bikes.

Pick Up and Drop Off Across Laos
All three bikes are available across our shops in Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and Pakse. One of the things that makes Style Motorbikes different from most rental companies in Laos is that you can pick up a bike at one shop and drop it off at another — with no drop fee. This means you can ride the full length of the country and finish your trip in a different city from where you started.
If you’re planning a one-way trip — north to south, south to north, or anything in between — see our one-way rental routes below.
